Our take
I picked up the BFP800XL/A model without attachments, so it's a bit barebones. The motor is strong at 1200W, and the 16-cup bowl is great for big jobs. Pulse function works well. The safety lock is reassuring. But only one speed is limiting—I miss having variable control. Also, no attachments included means you'll need to buy discs separately. It's heavy and takes up counter space. Cord storage is nice. For the price, it's a capable base, but factor in the cost of extra parts.
